We will enjoy the beautiful Olbrich Botanical Gardens with the GLEAM, Art in a New Light, exhibit as we reflect on the past, present and future of transportation. We’ll also recognize our woman of the year (WisDOT’s Angela Adams), member of the year (Kathleen Matson), project of the year (WisDOT’s Colleague Engagement Network – Empowering Women in Transportation) and company/agency of the year (HNTB).

We are excited to invite you to a special in-person WTS Wisconsin and ITE joint event focused on the future of intercity passenger rail in Wisconsin. The event will be held at the WisDOT Southeast Region in Waukesha, WI.

Program
All Aboard – Amtrak’s Borealis! Learn about WisDOT's newest intercity passenger rail service, the Borealis route, which connects the Twin Cities, Milwaukee, and Chicago. Our speakers will also discuss other potential corridors being considered in Wisconsin through the FRA Corridor Identification and Development Program. This event will offer valuable insights into service planning, operations, and the exciting developments for Wisconsin’s rail network.

MSOE Explore Summer Program - Volunteer Opportunity
We are looking for approximately 3 volunteers for each time slot!

Explore camps are an opportunity for students (ages 14 to 17) to spend the week rotating through half-day programs learning about each of MSOE's engineering majors and determine which interest them the most.
Volunteers will assist Dr. Mitzi Dobersek to provide civil engineering content, ranging from basic traffic signal timing principles, intersection safety, interchange design and multimodal discussions (including a trip to visit the HOP!)
If there is enough volunteer interest, additional Explore Camp dates (July 23rd, 24th, 29th and/or 30th) are available for volunteering as well.

WTS-WI is looking for 8-10 volunteers to help lead hands-on activities at this year's Engineering Tomorrow's Career Camp held in person on UW-Madison's campus!
Each year, the Society of Women Engineers (SWE) hosts this week-long camp to provide approximately 60-70 high school women the opportunity to learn about careers in engineering from industry professionals. WTS-WI is excited to be welcomed back to be a part of the camp and showcase Transportation Engineering to these aspiring engineers.
This is an especially great opportunity for new members to get involved with WTS-Wisconsin and meet other members!
No prior experience or specific background is required to volunteer.

Ride the Drive - Madison
Event Date: Sunday August 11th, 2024
Event Time: 9:30 AM to 2:30 PM
Location: Olin Park (202 E. Lakeside St., Madison)
Description:
- Ride the Drive, organized by the City of Madison Parks Division, is more than 4 miles of city streets closed to motor vehicles and park hubs along the way offering activities, food and fun for all ages.
- WTS-WI is looking for approximately five volunteers to staff an exhibition booth at Olin Park to engage kids and parents in Civil Engineering and spread awareness of Civil Engineering career paths.
- Activities will include transportation themed coloring pages and an activity for reimagining road spaces to incorporate active transportation.
- No prior experience or specific background is required to volunteer and you do not have to be a WTS member.

WI WTS Joint Virtual Meeting with ITE Wisconsin - September 22, 2021

Technical Program - Electrification of Transportation
On Thursday, June 24, 2021 from 11:30am to 12:30pm join us for a virtual networking session and technical presentation on electric infrastructure.
The emergence and increasing use of electric vehicles and bicycles is presenting unique opportunities and challenges within the existing transportation infrastructure. Join presenters Chuck Wade (WisDOT Director of Bureau of Planning and Economic Development) and Morgan Ramaker (Executive Director, BCycle LLC) for a discussion regarding the "electrification of transportation". Cost: FREE!
After the technical presentation, we will break into groups for a virtual networking session.
With the cancellation of many events over the past year, we have had a hard time raising money for the WTS Scholarship fund. We are offering an option to donate to the scholarship fund when you sign up for the event. Everyone who donates will be entered into a drawing for a $10 gift card!
