2023 Mentoring Program in Review

We commenced our current Mentoring term with great enthusiasm and accomplishments!

Celebrating the achievements of our graduates from the previous term on June 7, 2023, we were honored to hear insights from Bo Burick, Associate/Division Manager at Mark Thomas and a longstanding mentor in our Chapter’s program. The dedication of 25 mentor/mentee pairs throughout the year, marked by personalized mentoring, engaging events, workshops, and networking, was truly commendable. To express our gratitude, we captured headshots of our participants, encapsulating the success of the year. {Enclosed are the headshots and a group photo}.

The current term, which commenced in July 2023 with 25 pairs, began with the Mentee Orientation and Term Kick-off. The orientation empowered incoming mentees with essential resources, expectations, and valuable tips. We emphasized the importance of mentees taking charge, as this program is centered around their growth.

During the Term Kick-off meeting on July 20, 2023, we were privileged to have Yvonne Lopez-Diaz, Vice President at HNTB and the firm’s National Workforce Strategist, Vice Chair of the WTS Foundation Board, and Chair of the Foundation’s Educational Programming Committee, shared her insights and personal journey. Yvonne facilitated a team-building exercise, fostering a positive start to the term.

In October, the Port of Long Beach generously hosted our mentors and mentees on a tour of the harbor, providing a captivating guided tour of the harbor's rich history. {Enclosed are various photos and a group photo}.

December brought cheer to our mentorship community as we gathered at Psomas’ office for quality time, complete with mingling and a special guest appearance by Frosty the Snowman. This occasion served as the ideal midpoint marker to the term, symbolizing the progress and shared spirit that defines our program.
