Updating bylaws is critical for any professional organization to reflect changing needs for the health of the organization. To that end, the proposed 2021 WTS Central Florida chapter bylaws are at this link: Bylaws  for your review with the changes summarized below. We plan to have a virtual general membership meeting and vote on September 15, 2021 at 5:30pm that we ask members attend.

Summary of Bylaws Changes:

• Change term of office from two (2) years to one (1) year.
• Modifications for consistency with WTS International Bylaws include:
  • Updating the objective (Article III) to agree with WTS International language. 
  • Removing Immediate Past President as an Officer of the Corporation. The officers of the Corporation are the President, Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer.
  • Changing voting Chapter Board of Directors to agree with the WTS International recommendations. The voting Chapter Board of Directors will be:
    • Officers of the Corporation
    • Immediate Past President
    • Three (3) to five (5) Directors at large
  • Updating meeting notification and quorum, and better support for virtual meetings and electronic tools.
  • Removing repetition in text and consolidating text.

With this approach, committee chairs will report to a specific board member and are not required to attend monthly board meetings. The goal is for better time management of our volunteers while providing leadership experience transferrable to the workplace. 

Process to approve changes:

Changes must be approved based on the current bylaws, which includes a general membership meeting in which quorum is reached. Quorum is 1/5 of the members in good standing. Approval is based on a simple majority of the attendees who are members in good standing. Members in good standing will be set based on the WTS International membership report dated September 1, 2021.

This news article and an email to members in good standing are notification of our planned virtual general meeting on Wednesday, September 15, 2021 at 5:30pm. We will be sending individual meeting invitations to members in good standing as of September 1, 2021. At that meeting, once we reach quorum, we will have the opportunity for questions and will have an electronic vote. We expect the meeting will be less than 20 minutes.
