On Friday, June 10, 2022 at the Mark Thomas offices in Irvine, CA the WTS Orange County Mentoring Committee held an in-person graduation ceremony to honor our 2021/2022 mentor/mentee pairs.

After a hosted breakfast and some quality networking time, Rebecca Shum of HDR/WKE (Mentoring Committee Chair), and Bo Burick of Mark Thomas (Mentoring Committee Member), presented the highlights and achievements that took place throughout the 21/22 term. 

Our keynote speaker, Juliet Su, Director of Design and Construction for TCA (current Mentoring Committee Member and former Chair!), gave an excellent presentation on the influence that mentorship has played in both her professional career and personal life. Her imparted wisdom will certainly leave a mark on all event attendees! Three of our mentor/mentee pairs, Daniel LaFranchi (HDR) and Greg Hulsizer (HNTB), Serena Lin (Kimley Horn) and Mitali Gupta (LA Metro), and Andrea Hernandez (Mark Thomas) and Doug Smith (HDR), then shared their experiences with the mentorship program. It’s safe to say their testimonials proved the value that this program offers to both seasoned professionals and those who are still newer to the industry.
