WTS-LA Career Fair: Powering the Future

Members of the WTS-LA Transportation YOU Committee participated in Career Day events at San Gabriel Valley high schools and college events.

Ashlien Savage, WTS-LA Transportation YOU Committee Co-Chair and Foothill Transit Human Resources Manager; Linda Apodaca, WTS-LA Transportation YOU Committee Member and Foothill Transit Manager of Community Engagement; and Vanessa Estrada, WTS-LA volunteer and Long Beach Airport Capital Projects Coordinator III, presented at the Duarte High School Career Day. During four separate sessions, where students rotated into the classroom, there was ample opportunity to engage with students and share the advantages and opportunities of considering a career in the transportation industry.

The following day, Linda Apodaca and Ana Rios, WTS-LA Transportation YOU committee member and HDR Accountant, participated in the Introducing American Youth to Infrastructure’s (IYAI) San Bernardino Community College STEAM Careers event on behalf of WTS-LA.

Career days give us an opportunity to introduce students to the myriad careers in transportation and give the students another touchpoint with our agencies.
