WTS International Statement on FHWA Funding Allocation and Workforce Development Guidance

WTS International applauds yesterday’s announcement from the United States Department of Transportation’s Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) regarding new workforce development guidance and a $10M funding allocation for DBE Supportive Services (DBE/SS).

This Bipartisan Infrastructure Law funding will create economic opportunities and help build generational wealth for disadvantaged business enterprises across the U.S.

“Diversity is crucial to the success of our transportation infrastructure. WTS strongly advocates for removing as many obstacles as possible for women to become entrepreneurs in the transportation industry, and to better support existing women business owners. Some of this advocacy is rooted in eliminating stereotypes about what an owner looks like; but much of it is asking for and providing training, education, funding, and guidance around the technical, legal, financial, and business challenges that are a part of entrepreneurship,” said Sara Stickler, President and CEO, WTS International. “FHWA’s investment will allow for more women to receive these types of provisions. We applaud the Administration for supporting historically disadvantaged workers, businesses, and communities.”
