WTS Foundation Announces New Scholarship Opportunities

Washington, D.C. (February 4, 2022) – The WTS Foundation, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization dedicated to attracting the next generation of a diverse transportation workforce through scholarship and education, announces the creation of a new scholarship for undergraduate and graduate women students pursuing a degree and/ or career in a transportation-related area.

The newly formed Corporate Sponsor Scholarships, each of a value of $5,000, are supported by WTS International Strategic Level Partners. In its inaugural year, the WTS Foundation is offering three (3) Corporate Sponsor Scholarships generously supported by HDR, HNTB, and WSP.

“We are thrilled to offer three new scholarships this year. The support and generosity of our Strategic Partners HDR, HNTB, and WSP has made this possible, and we are incredibly grateful to them,” says Jannet Walker-Ford, Chair, WTS Foundation and Senior Vice President & Principal Director, National Transit & Rail Business Line Leader, WSP. “Providing additional scholarship opportunities is the realization of the WTS Foundation mission as we financially support women interested in pursuing careers in transportation. Financial support is critical in ensuring that we are attracting diverse backgrounds and experiences into the industry.”

The WTS Foundation provides over $600,000 annually through the Foundation and its Chapters to deserving and impressive young women pursuing careers in transportation. In addition to the newly established Corporate Sponsor Scholarship, the WTS Foundation awards six (6) additional scholarships to high school, undergraduate, and graduate students.

The Corporate Sponsor Scholarship application is now open and will close on March 11, 2022. Scholarships will be awarded at the WTS Annual Conference in Seattle, Washington the week of May 16th.
