Please join WTS-Boston Wednesday, March 16th for a panel discussion with women leader's from MassDOT, MBTA and Massport. Celebrate Women's History Month with us as we highlight the careers of Nhuy Hoang from Massport, Karen Burns from MBTA and Marie Rose from MassDOT.  Luisa Paiewonsky of Volpe will lead us in an exciting discussion on challenges faced, strides made, and what's to come!

Ms. Paiewonsky is the Director of the Center for Infrastructure Systems and Technology at the U.S. Department of Transportation/Volpe Center. She directs the work of 130 professional staff focusing on infrastructure modernization, automation and advanced transportation technologies, rail and maritime safety, military logistics, and innovative research programs.

Ms. Hoang has over 33 years of professional engineering experience at the Massachusetts Port Authority (Massport).   In her role as the Deputy Director of Capital Programs & Environmental Affairs, she is responsible for supporting delivery of Massport’s entire capital program for all of Massport’s facilities including Logan International Airport, Hanscom Field, Worcester Regional Airport as well as Massport maritime facilities.  

 

 

Karen Burns, Interim Assistant Manager of Bus Operations, MBTA

Ms. Burns has spent her entire 30-year career in Bus Operations, the largest department at the MBTA. She is currently the interim Assistant General Manager of Bus Operations where she manages four Division Chiefs and all seven MBTA Bus Operations Districts with a total of approximately 1900 employees.  

 

 

 

 
 
 
Marie Joyce Rose, Director of Project Management, MassDOT

Ms. Rose has been working for the MassDOT Highway Division for 37 years and was one of the 100 Junior Civil Engineers (CE Is) hired in 1984 in a rotational training program. She has been the Director of Project Management for 14 years, overseeing 31 Project Managers and advertising close to 50 projects totaling about $300 Million each year.
