WTS-Boston Announces 2023 Emerging Professionals
The WTS-Boston Program for Emerging Professional Women provides annual awards to the WTS-Boston community. Eligible applicants must work in a transportation-related career and not be eligible to receive reimbursement from their employer for WTS membership expenses. Applicants should have no more than 5 years of full-time post-graduate professional experience in the transportation field.
We are pleased to announce the selection of the 2023 WTS-Boston Emerging Professionals:
Angela Servello
Angela Servello is a Senior Analyst in the Capital Program Planning department at the MBTA where she supports the development, implementation, and ongoing analysis of the agency's five-year capital plan. Prior to joining the MBTA, Angela worked in higher education while completing her Master of City Planning degree at Boston University. She is thrilled to be in the transportation field where she is able to use her passion for problem solving, data visualization, and stakeholder engagement to serve the public good. Outside of work, Angela enjoys textile arts and is refining her skills as an amateur seamstress.
Zoe McAlear
Zoe McAlear is a policy analyst who has worked at the U.S. DOT Volpe Center since 2020. Her work has supported the Federal Highway Administration, Office of the Secretary, the National Park Service, and other federal agencies on research, policy analysis, and program development. Zoe is interested in environmental policy and planning, with a focus on environmental protection, and climate change mitigation and adaptation in the transportation sector. Prior to joining the Volpe Center, Zoe was an AmeriCorps VISTA at a community development corporation in East Boston. She holds a master’s degree in city planning from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a bachelor’s degree in urban studies from Haverford College.
Sydney Peterson
Sydney Peterson works as a Transit Policy Analyst for the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority’s Policy and Transit Planning Team. Sydney is originally from Idaho but moved to Boston to attend Northeastern University. She graduated from Northeastern’s School of Public Policy and Urban Affairs in May of this year with a Master of Public Policy degree
