Unleashing Your Authentic Thought Leadership Skills
Thursday, February 25th, marked the beginning of a new term and the first professional development event of our program year. A total of 108 people joined us for an enlightening panel hosted by four female industry leaders, on the topic of “Unleashing Your Authentic Thought Leadership Skills”.
Our subject matter experts included Jennifer Lanning, PE - Associate, Bridge Inspection Practice Leader at Pennoni; Carol Martsolf, PE, PMP, CPTD, LEED AP - Vice President and Chief Learning Officer at Urban Engineers; Carrie Streahle – President at Promatech; and Jennifer Walsh, PE – Traffic & Planning Section Manager at HDR (moderator).
Topics were wide-ranging and included thoughts on how to completely pivot in your career, the importance of having a thirst for knowledge – as well as a great collection of mentors, advice on being unapologetic about your driving forces and passions, and impressive interactive Q&A session with great audience participation! Three key takeaways include:
- Nothing you are supposed to be doing is intended to be easy.
- Leadership asked you to take a different path because they know you have the potential to do something, not because you have already done it. Prove it to yourself and to them that you have it in you!
- Everyone has self-doubt, but we also don’t want to have regrets.
