Transportation YOU News: Arlene Willis Steps Up as Committee Chair
We proudly announce Arlene Willis as the new Transportation YOU Committee Chairperson of the South Florida chapter of Women's Transportation Seminar (WTS).
Developing youth in STEM is a passion of Arlene brings diverse experiences and a unique perspective to collaborate, revive the committee, and provide direction for the program to be successful.
She is currently the Integration Manager for the Transportation Systems Management and Operations (TSM&O) work unit in Traffic Operations at the District 4 office of Florida Department of Transportation. A graduate of New Jersey Institute of Technology, Arlene holds degrees in Industrial Engineering and Transportation Engineering.
Prior to relaunching her career and joining WTS, she served as Program Manager of the Role Model Speaker’s Program for ITWomen which is a non-profit that matches leading IT professionals and engineers with schools. ITWomen also raises scholarship funds for girls in Palm Beach, Broward and Miami-Dade counties. In addition, Arlene is a former Board Member of the Broward Gifted Advisory Council, parent volunteer and proud mother of 2 with a strong sense of devotion to youth and their career growth.
Arlene credits her own youth development as an active Key Club member while in high school, for the deep compassion that she has for improving the lives of others. To that end, she successfully advocated for sponsorship from Florida Power and Light/ Next Era Energy Foundation to create the first robotics summer camp for girls in Broward County with ITWomen. She has proven experience supporting her own children, and other youth to develop in areas they never dreamed of.
Arlene is an avid dancer who resides in Broward County where she enjoys the beach, playing golf and looks forward to resuming her love of travel.
