Port of Los Angeles - Employer of the Year

Dubbed America’s Port®, the Port is the nation’s premier gateway for international commerce. A department of the City of Los Angeles, the Port is not only a national treasure, but also a key component in the nation’s infrastructure, as well as an international player in global trade. But let’s talk about how the Port operates and is governed.
Under the leadership of Los Angeles’s first female mayor Karen Bass, the Port’s nearly 1,000 employees embody a culture where the advancement of women is a fundamental priority. And this can be seen at every level of the organization. The five-person Los Angeles Harbor Commission is led by President Lucille Roybal-Allard. The Port’s seven-member leadership team includes influential women including Deputy Executive Director of Development Dina Aryan-Zahlan and Deputy Executive Director for Harbor Administration Erica M. Calhoun. And the list goes on. But the Port’s efforts don’t stop at its gates.
A longtime supporter of WTS-LA, the Port strongly encourages employee involvement and active participation in our chapter and other associations. For more than 25 years, Port representatives have held leadership positions on the WTS-LA board as well as internationally. Many Port employees have also won coveted WTS awards for service to that mission. The Port’s commitment to fairness and equity for all of its employees is demonstrable, indelible, and immutable. It has simply become part of the Port’s DNA.
