New Acela: The Next Generation of High-Speed Travel on the Northeast Corridor
On Monday, November 15th, we partnered up with WTS Greater New York for a virtual panel event featuring the women bringing the New Acela to the Northeast Corridor.
Moderated by Nicole Bucich, Planning Director of the Northeast Corridor Commission, we were joined by Donna Hennessy, Amtrak’s Strategic Acquisitions Director, Erika Perin of Alstom, Amtrak Project Quality Safety Manager manufacturing the new trainsets, and Pallavi Lal, Vice President of the Vehicle Engineering Practice at Hatch LTK, designer of the vehicles.
Each panelist spoke about their role in the New Acela program from their own unique technical perspective, describing successes along the way. The panel also highlighted exciting new amenities and technologies employed on the new fleet, and each participant offered advice their best pieces of advice for young women in our industry.
