WTS Philadelphia and the Lehigh Valley Annex hosted the Learn From a Leader panel, Navigating Career Crossroads with Confidence moderated by Shiny Mathew, PE, ENV SP (JMT) and featuring Emilie Albert, PE (HNTB), Judy Stern Goldstein, RLA, ASLA (G&A), Heather Riebeling, PE (AECOM), Jaclyn Whelan, PE (Conrail), and the 1st WTS Philadelphia president, Linda Saris.
Panelists shared insights on navigating the industry and balancing long-term commitments, exploring private and public sectors. They emphasized the importance of having flexibility, autonomy, and self-advocacy while noting that career goals evolve with life stages. Discussions included the reassessment career paths, realignment of your goals, and leveraging networks to aid in career progression. Panelists provided advice regarding career comparisons with others and stressed the importance of having open conversations before making the decision to leave an organization.
