On May 12, 2022, Linda Apodaca, Manager of Community Engagement for Foothill Transit and Women Transportation Seminar LA Chapter (WTS-LA) Transportation YOU Committee Member, and Eileen Ryder, Business Development Director for Parsons Corporation and Vice President, Membership & Communications for WTS-LA, attended the EXP Oceans of Opportunity Scholarship dinner in Long Beach.

EXP is a nonprofit organization that partners with local schools to offer programs that are innovative and career-based and that make classroom learning relevant and exciting. Its mission is to connect young people in underserved communities with industry and help them gain experience, unlock doors, and build the confidence they need to succeed in school, career, and life.

WTS-LA supports the efforts of EXP by offering a WTS-LA scholarship to a deserving high school senior who was involved in EXP programs throughout their high school career. In addition, EXP allows Transportation YOU committee-member access to students to share exciting careers in transportation. This year, WTS-LA sponsored a scholarship to a Gardena High School student and was a bronze sponsor of the annual scholarship program, Oceans of Opportunity.
