HOPPING ONTO THE BIL TRAIN: Infrastructure Funding and the Schuylkill River Passenger Rail Authority
On June 28th, we hosted an in-depth discussion led by U.S. Representative Chrissy Houlahan and Tom Frawley, Executive Director of the Schuylkill River Passenger Rail Authority (SRPRA), on the topic of Bipartisan Infrastructure Law (BIL) / Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA) funding in our region, specifically for the SRPRA and its mission to restore passenger rail service from Reading to Philadelphia.
We discussed the equitable impact the BIL/IIJA and SRPRA will have on jobs, our infrastructure and the local community. The audience also heard about upcoming planning, environmental and design opportunities associated with SRPRA… and we learned about the one-of-a-kind “Reverse Swampoodle Connection!” The program was moderated by Jennifer Waters, Vice President and Philadelphia Regional Leader at Urban Engineers and WTS Philadelphia ED&I Committee Director.
