Office leadership is committed to optimizing inclusivity and effectiveness. In April 2020, Office Leader Gary Bua convened task forces of diverse employees to focus on several improvement areas - Communications, Office Engagement and Professional Development, and a Diversity and Inclusion Task Force. 

These groups began to work on improvement initiatives immediately with all-office meetings, presentations by various departments and brown bags on key topics. Additional activities included an office newsletter, Diversity Book Club, get-to-know-you lunches and Diversity and Inclusion Speaker Series. The woman-led professional development management team was also restarted to bolster professional development offerings, so all employees have the necessary opportunities for growth. This group started an internal mentorship program, allowing 44 office members the opportunity to learn new ideas and participate in a meaningful way.

HNTB improved communications, engagement and professional development during a difficult time, implementing a grass roots process and demonstrating their commitment to inclusion and diversity in 2021 and the years to come. Their office accomplished this while maintaining high project standards, providing public agencies and private firms with comprehensive services
