Demystifying the Application of AI in Transportation
On April 23rd, we presented a technical session titled, “Demystifying the Application of AI in Transportation,” which was led by Victoria Mechtly, Assistant Vice President, Federal Client Services Manager at the TranSystems’ Kansas City, MO office (and WTS member).
Victoria created a dialogue with her audience from the start and fielded questions as the presentation continued, as well as at the end. She began by defining Artificial Intelligence (AI) as being comprised of Machine Learning (ML), which includes search engines and fraud detection; Deep Learning/Neutral Networks which includes image/speech recognition and autonomous vehicles; and Generative AI which includes new images, videos, and other creative content.
She recommended that companies set up policies regarding AI as soon as possible, and that soon clients may start asking for verification that AI was not used in generating any of the deliverables. She further recommended that companies set up an internal AI Task Force to develop, review and edit AI policies. She said that we should learn “Prompt Engineering,” or the ability to ask the right questions. She shared with the audience the tools she regularly used such as “Grammarly,” “Dall.E” and “Perplexity.” She concluded by sharing some favored AI-Powered Tools for A/E/C specifically.
