DEI In Motion: National Poverty in America Awareness Month
Poverty is manifested in many ways, whether it be homelessness, hunger, or lack of access to basic services. With the cost-of-living skyrocketing, more people are finding themselves without the resources they need to live. As of 2020, more than 11% of the total U.S. population were poor, including approximately 18% of people in the City of Boston. Poverty affects more women than men and a disproportionately large percentage of Black and Hispanic individuals. Young people today are the first generations that have a lower standard of living than their parents. However, there are many ways to help.
