Announcing the 2022 WTS-Boston Chapter Innovative Transportation Solutions Award

Alexandra Markiewicz – selected for the WTS-Boston 2022 Innovative Transportation Solutions Award

WTS-Boston is proud to announce that Alexandra Markiewicz is the recipient of the 2022 WTS-Boston Chapter Innovative Transportation Solutions Award! Alexandra will be invited to the WTS-Boston Annual Awards and Scholarship Event in June 2022. She will receive recognition during the event. Congratulations Alexandra!

Alexandra Mankiewicz joined the MBTA in 2020 to serve as Manager of the Bus Modernization Program within the Office of the Chief Engineer.

Alexandra has been a driving force behind the MBTA’s nationally aggressive plan to electrify its 1,150-bus fleet.  Since joining the Bus Modernization team, she has played a lead role in delivering the 30% design for the MBTA’s first battery electric bus garage in Quincy and overseen its handoff to the Capital Delivery team for implementation.

Alexandra developed a framework for securing internal leadership consensus around the overall sequencing and pace of the electrification effort and was instrumental in the identification of Arborway as the program’s second priority.  She has simultaneously pushed to advance modern facilities that will meet the long-deferred needs of our maintenance and operations workforce, while looking for opportunities to drive down project costs so the full scope of the modernization effort can ultimately be realized.  With three years until the opening of the Quincy garage, Alexandra is leading internal efforts to align operational needs with new infrastructure, software management tools, and procedures associated with the introduction of large-scale battery electric bus deployment.
