We're experimenting with something new as we host our first in-person “luncheon” event of the year! Close out your work day and join us for snacks and beverages while hearing from industry leaders in our community. Come learn about the community values and partnership guiding the I-5 Rose Quarter Improvement Project.
In Portland, the construction of Interstate 5 (I-5) displaced homes and businesses within the Albina neighborhood, once a thriving Black community. With the I-5 Rose Quarter Improvement Project, ODOT is determined to reduce barriers created by the highway and not repeat past harms. Leaders from the Project team will share more about the Project, which will improve safety and traffic flow on I-5 and build a highway cover over I-5 with new community space and street reconnections.
ODOT, with community partners, is focused on investing in transportation for a better future and serves as a model for community building. Learn how the Project is flipping the script on community partnership, leading with values and intentionally centering voices of the historic Albina community to shape the Project. And, you'll also learn more about how the Project team is taking a values-based approach to contracting and minority-owned Disadvantaged Business Enterprise participation goals.
