State DOTs nationwide are facing a lot of challenges with transportation funding—gas tax revenue is starting to decline and federal funding is uncertain when the infrastructure bill expires in two years. Come hear Travis Brouwer, ODOT’s Assistant Director for Revenue and Finance, talk about the transportation funding challenges and the work underway to address them across the nation and here in Oregon. Both ODOT and local governments are running short on money to do basic maintenance, much less preserve and improve the system. In response, the Oregon Legislature is starting to work on a transportation funding package.
Travis Brouwer has served as ODOT’s Assistant Director for Revenue and Finance since 2019. In this capacity, he oversees all of ODOT’s revenue, budget, and financial functions. Brouwer previously served as ODOT’s Assistant Director for Public Affairs and was part of the agency’s team that helped develop and implement HB 2017. He also served as the agency’s Federal Affairs Advisor and has been involved in implementing multiple federal transportation acts. He joined ODOT in 2005 after serving as a congressional aide for six years.
