PD Event: Project Management Tips - Technical Topics (Part 1 of 2)

Panelists will discuss technical aspects of project management, including defining and managing project scope, staying on schedule and under budget, and resource planning and management. Food and refreshments will be provided.

Marie_Sullivan_WTS_Boston

Marie Sullivan is a Principal at Stantec Consulting Services Inc. with 29 years of designing and managing State and municipal roadway/highway projects. Throughout her career, Marie has designed/managed many types of highway/roadway projects including interstate highway interchanges, corridor studies, traffic safety improvement projects, bridge rehabilitation/replacements, and local intersections which has sharpened her sensitivity to local issues and her proficiency in public presentations, making her an invaluable partner to our clients. Marie is Project Manager for the Needham/Newton Corridor and the I-95/ Dedham Street Interchange, working closely with MassDOT for the construction administration effort for both projects.  Marie is also the Project Manager for two off-road shared-use trail projects and two corridor roadway reconstruction projects. Marie leads multiple design teams of engineers, planners, and subconsultants to prepare several design contracts for roadway, trails, utilities, and structures. Marie earned a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of Massachusetts-Lowell and is a registered Professional Engineer in Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Connecticut, New Hampshire, and Maine. Marie is currently serving a two-year term as Past-President and Advisory Board Chair of the WTS-Boston Chapter.

Mary Loden PE, PMP, MBA is a Senior Project Manager with Jacobs.  With over 30 years of experience in the engineering, architecture, and environmental consulting industry, Mary is an effective leader, trainer, consultant, and project manager. She has trained and developed systems for project managers in firms of all sizes.  Mary also enjoys mentoring the next generation of project managers, having taught project management at Wentworth Institute of Technology and Northeastern University in Boston, MA. She is passionate about creating environments where project managers can thrive and developing simple and effective systems, tools, and processes for project managers.

Maribel Kelly_WTS Boston

Maribel Kelly is the Deputy Chief of Capital Delivery at the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA), with 27 years of experience in construction and transportation. While at the MBTA for the last 17 years, Maribel advanced from Construction Inspector to Resident Engineer, Project Manager, Senior Project Manager, Senior Director for Commuter Rail, and now as Deputy Chief for Capital Delivery. As an immigrant Latina woman working in the industry, Maribel has witnessed the MBTA’s strategic reforms toward improving: Culture, Communication, and Collaboration; Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion; and Workforce Development.
During her career, Maribel has managed multiple high-profile, multi-million-dollar construction projects for government and private sector clients, including leading teams of project managers, consultants, and contractors.
Maribel is the recipient of the following awards:
2021 Francis M. Keville Award, the MBTA recognizes employees who exemplify the highest standards of public service and have achieved exceptional accomplishments on MBTA projects.
2021 Woman in Rail Award, given to women for their achievements in the rail industry based on leadership, vision, innovation and accomplishments. This award celebrates women leaders in rail and women trailblazers with a track record of breaking down barriers and helping to create industry opportunities for women.

Gwen Dunlevy_WTS Boston

Gwen Dunlevy is a Senior Director of Capital Transformation at the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA).  With over 20 years of experience in the construction industry, Gwen started out as a construction laborer and now leads a high performing team that manages a multi-billion dollar portfolio of construction projects.  With a combination of private and public sector experience, she has delivered projects across the country and on multiple continents in the transit, medical, university, commercial, and industrial industries ranging in value from 10’s of thousands to 100’s of millions.  In addition to leading her team, she has also helped lead and facilitate multiple agency wide efforts within the MBTA.  She has worked throughout her career to drive change, transparency, and accountability while now working to uplift the voices of her diverse team to bring to the forefront the next generation of leaders.
