Join us for the first quarterly lunch program titled Resiliency into the Future on February 14, 2023.
Resilience is key to our transportation system. Resiliency is the ability to adapt to changing conditions as well as prepare for, withstand, and recover from disruption to our transportation network and adverse impacts on economy, security, heath, equity, and the natural environment. For Florida, the changing conditions may be shocks, such as hurricanes and wildfires, or stressors, such as flooding and sea level rise that may provide risk to our transportation system.
Recognizing the importance of identifying and protecting critical assets and maintaining he movement of people and goods, the East Central Florida Regional Planning Council (ECFRPC), Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT), and Space Coast Transportation Planning Organization (TPO) have been developing and implementing plans to enhance infrastructure and operational resilience for both new and existing facilities in partnership with other jurisdictions and agencies. In addition, the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act funding programs (PROTECT, RAISE, etc.) ties to resilience and partnerships.
Our panel will inform us about how each agency is planning and implementing resilience programs, tools available to evaluate transportation facilities and identify risks, changes to our approaches and classifications of projects to track resiliency investments, and ties to funding programs for a resilient future.
