Portland Foreside's 10 acres of former industrial operations along the City’s urban waterfront will become a mixed-use neighborhood in the best sense of the term. The buildings are designed to meet the historical significance of the area allowing for year-round enjoyment of Portland’s waterfront through much needed housing (apartments and condominiums), office space, hotel lodging, restaurants, local retail, and impeccably designed outdoor spaces to promote communal gathering. The master plan includes a connection to adjacent lands owned by the City slated to be converted into waterfront public open space, and provides access to improved pedestrian trails directly along the waterfront. This project will ultimately connect the adjacent neighborhoods to the water and bring new life and enjoyment to this historically significant site.
The site’s 16-acre submerged land lease with the State of Maine, which is an area extending 1,000 feet along the shore line and 575 feet out into the harbor, presents a deep-water marina development that is unparalleled on the eastern seaboard. Direct access to this modern, technologically advanced marina offers significant benefit to residents in the eastern waterfront, and drives transient boating demand from Maine’s large boating population to the development’s future retailers, restaurants, and hotel.
