The WTS San Francisco Bay Area Chapter is excited to partner with Acumen and Kittelson for this Earth Day event, as well as with local bike merchants who will be there to offer services.

Whether you’re a bike veteran or bike-curious, all are welcome.

Join us for a day of biking from San Leandro Bay to Marina Park and return to our starting point for lunch for a total of 10 miles of fun. During lunch, we will hear from leading professionals about bicycle infrastructure in Alameda County as well as local advocacy efforts associated with it.

  • Networking with light refreshments (9:30am - 10:00am)
  • Bike ride led by Amanda Leahy (10:00am - 12:00pm)
  • Lunch and discussion back at starting point (12:00pm -1:00pm)

Ticket prices include lunch.

Accessing the Event

9:30am - 10:00am

Meet at the parking lot at Acumen 777 Pardee Lane (near the Oakland Coliseum). Walter Allen from Acumen will provide opening remarks. Here are some ways to access the entrance:

  • Car: You can park your car in the parking lot of the starting point. Street parking is also available.
  • Transit: Take BART to the Coliseum BART station, and transfer to AC Transit Line 98.
  • Bike: There are bike pathways along Alameda County Bicycle Route which lead to our starting point at 777 Pardee Lane.

Bring a water bottle, helmet, sunscreen, and bike lock. Dress in layers. This will be a beginner-friendly, 10-mile bike ride to Yerba Buena Island.

  • Bike share app (https://www.lyft.com/bikes/bay-wheels).
  • Clipper card can be used for payment.
  • Closest bike stations are at Bond Street at High Street, Oakland (3.1 miles from starting location) or Farnam Street at Fruitvale Avenue (4.3 miles from starting location).

The Bike Ride

10:00am - Noon

Amanda Leahy from Kittelson will lead a scenic ride from the parking lot to Marina Park and back. The ride is a beginner-friendly 10-mile ride, with a light ~5% incline. The ride will be along the bay trail and shared bike lanes. Bring a water bottle, helmet, bike lock, and sunscreen, and dress in layers.
